STRIVE is a voluntary program designed to help you create a brighter future by developing skills, securing employment, and achieving self-sufficiency.

Recognizing that each person’s path is unique, STRIVE provides a holistic approach to finding meaningful work. Participants receive free training, education, and personalized career guidance to help them reach their goals. Additionally, STRIVE offers support to overcome barriers to employment or career advancement, such as assistance with transportation, childcare, uniforms, supplies, and more.

Enrollment is simpleAll you need to do is let us know you’re interested in joining, and we can get started! Call 330-451-8282, send us an email, or quickly complete the request on the Ohio Benefits Self-Service Portal at ssp.benefits.ohio.gov. Once your request has been received, a program advocate will contact you to schedule time to discuss your employment goals, needs, barriers, and strengths.

Frequently Asked Questions about STRIVE

You must be an active SNAP participant, or eligible for SNAP and meet criteria for referral.
No, SNAP participants are not required to enroll in STRIVE. The STRIVE program is optional, and your decision will not affect your SNAP benefits.
Yes! Your program advocate is your partner in STRIVE. They will be in regular contact with you to discuss your progress, provide support, and help you celebrate all your successes. Your program advocate will also provide coaching, help with setting goals, and link you to additional resources.
The length of time will vary based on your goals and the activities you choose. Your program advocate will be able to provide you more details during your initial discussion.
Yes! You can join STRIVE regardless of your current employment status. The program offers skills and training to help you advance or change the direction of your career.
