Jury Duty telephone scam

Please be advised that a telephone scam has recently targeted Stark County residents regarding contempt for failure to appear for jury duty. Individuals have been contacted by telephone by people claiming to be officers from the Stark County Sheriff's Department and claiming that the individuals contacted failed to appear for jury service and are in contempt of Court.

The contacted individuals have been told to send money to avoid arrest. In other instances, the contacted individual is told to meet with the caller to help with the legal process to avoid being arrested.

THIS IS A SCAM and is NOT generated by Stark County Court of Common Pleas personnel. If you receive such a telephone call, contact your local law enforcement agency.
