Project DAWN (Deaths Avoided with Naloxone) is a network of naloxone and drug checking test strip distribution programs that provide opioid overdose education and harm reduction services coordinated by the Ohio Department of Health.

Project DAWN Kits include: (insert picture of project dawn kit)
- 2 doses of nasal naloxone
- 1 face shield for rescue breathing
- 1 pair of gloves
What does an overdose look like?
- Unresponsiveness
- Slow or shallow breaths
- Choking, snoring or gurgling sounds
- Blue, grey or ashen lips and fingernails
- Pale and clammy face
NaloxBox Program
Stark County Health Department works with community partners to install boxes around the county filled with naloxone in an effort to decrease overdoses.
The boxes are placed in local restaurants, homeless shelters, hotels and other places. Modeled after AED defibrillators. Each NaloxBox contains at least two doses of naloxone and directions on how to deliver the opioid-reversal drug through a nasal spray.

Law Enforcement
Stark County Health Department has been providing local law enforcement agencies with Naloxone since 2015. These are for law enforcement officers to use in the field. If your department would like to provide Naloxone to your officers, or if you are out, please contact our department for more information. Training is also available for your officers.
