Training and Mentoring

After new employees are hired at the Stark County Health Department, they are paired with a mentor to help support their onboarding, professional growth and integration into our organizational culture.

Employee Recognition

Our employee recognition committee organizes events each quarter to honor the work of our dedicated employees.

Employee Wellness

Our wellness committee hosts lunches and cornhole tournaments for employees to connect with each other during their lunch hour. The committee also provides incentives for employees to receive regular health screenings and attend social gatherings.

Community Outreach

Our department takes our services into the community to meet residents of Stark County where they are. Bringing our services into our neighborhoods helps us ensure equitable access to our services and other health information.

  • Partnership with the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank. We visit the food bank on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month to connect community members with resources and health information.
  • Health Screenings. We visit targeted communities to provide health screenings including blood pressure, cholesterol and A1C.
  • Bingocize®. We provide targeted fall prevention programming for older adults.
  • Habitat for Humanity. Our employees have volunteered to help build houses for Stark County residents in need.
