Circulation Policy

The Stark County Law Library provides legal information resources to appointed and elected county officials, municipal corporations, townships, and courts within the county, attorneys and members of the public. Non-members may use print materials in the Library, but may not check out any materials.

Borrowing Materials

All materials in the library are part of one of two groups:

1: Circulating

These materials may be checked out for a period of four weeks by members. General collection materials may be renewed for two additional four-week periods either by telephoning the library or renewing online through Enterprise. Materials may be renewed a third time, but the materials must be presented at the library on the third renewal. All renewals will be subject to recalls or a pending request for the same materials. The library is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, and is located on the fourth floor of the Stark County Office Building.

2: Non-Circulating

These materials are kept in the Library to ensure access. They include reference materials, rare materials, and extra copies of heavily used practice materials. Materials housed in collections off site are considered to be non-circulating. Members wishing to borrow from these locations are asked to contact the director.

Overdue Fines

Overdue fines will begin to accrue on the day following the due date at the rate of $ .50 per business day until the fine reaches the replacement cost of the item. Circulation privileges are suspended for any patron who owes fines of $5.00 or more.

Damaged and Lost Items

Patrons will be billed for the cost of replacing any library materials that are lost or are returned damaged. Circulation privileges will be suspended until the replacement cost is paid.

Recall of Materials

Any circulating materials checked out of the law library may be recalled at the discretion of the Director. Items recalled should be returned within two business days. If the requested item is overdue at the time of the recall, fines will begin to accrue at the rate of $1.00 per day after two business days.

Returning Materials

Materials borrowed from the library may be returned at the Circulation desk during regular library business hours.
